]]> The Reverend Zeb Treloar grew up in Iowa City, IA and was active in the United Methodist Church throughout his childhood and early adulthood. His mother finished her seminary education when he was 10 and served as a UMC pastor during his early teenage years. Zeb discerned a call to ministry early in life. He received a Bachelor’s degree in religion from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2012 and left for seminary that fall, moving to Atlanta, GA to attend Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He graduated from there in 2015. During his first semester of seminary, Zeb found The Episcopal Church through seminary friends. He was confirmed in December 2012 and joined the Episcopal Studies program, knowing God was calling him to embrace the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement.

Zeb met his wife, Jamie, through friends while in seminary. They wed and moved to Des Moines, IA after Zeb graduated. Zeb was ordained to the priesthood in May 2019 and served as an assisting priest at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Des Moines. In 2021, he took a position in Murray, KY as a rector and campus minister. However, the political and social climate of the area took a toll on Zeb and Jamie. They decided to move to a place that fit their needs better. That led them to Connecticut, where they moved in September of 2023. They had been in Connecticut for one day when Zeb came to visit St. Peter’s. The connection was immediate and he has been active in the community since.

Zeb is a Master of Social Work student at Springfield College, class of 2026. He works as a senior caregiver, helping people stay in their homes as they age, and is a supply priest, leading worship and preaching for congregations who either don’t have a priest or their priest is on vacation.

Zeb serves as Priest Associate at St. Peter’s.

]]> The Reverend Jessie Akerson joined the staff at St. Peter’s as Deacon in Advent, 2022. Jessie grew up in Newington, Connecticut, in the same house she lives in now. She is also a cradle
Episcopalian and has loved the church since she was a young child. She had the privilege of serving as an acolyte at St. Mark’s in New Britain, Connecticut as a teenager, where her love of liturgy was formed.

She attended Central Connecticut State University, in New Britain, Connecticut, where she earned her BS in accounting.

After taking part in the Education for Ministry of the University of the South at Sewanee at her home parish of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield, Connecticut, she began listening to God’s invitation to
explore a call to the diaconate. In answer to that call, she had the privilege to be a member of the first graduating class of the Province 1 School for Deacons in June 2017.

Jessie was ordained to the vocational deaconate the following year and began serving at Trinity Church, Portland, Connecticut after her ordination. Jessie also served for several years on the Deacons council both before and after her ordination.

Crocheting prayer shawls and baking cookies and making candies for family and friends are ways that she engages in prayer. Her heart is fed by studying history, especially Tudor England and church history. Jessie is the proud parent of an adult daughter, Bernadette, and daughter-in-law, Ally. She shares her home with Cleo, her cat, who enjoys reminding Jessie that she is allowed to live in Cleo’s home.
